Yunus Civan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Khalel Al Motar, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marian Oelke prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Agah Özver in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marian Oelke saved Golden Tigers from getting behind. Mario Pochekanski could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Yunus Civan made a huge save. Golden Tigers were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after Trabzonspor's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. 何文震 took the corner. Golden Tigers's Nicolae Răducanu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Yunus Civan in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 37 minutes Trabzonspor's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was 何文震 who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Golden Tigers's corner 何文震 fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Yunus Civan quite easily take care of the ball. Agah Özver recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Trabzonspor's attentive Bedrettin Özaktuğ managed to snatch the ball when Edinho Prata made a throw-in in the 41st minute of the game. 42 minutes into the match, Golden Tigers's goal looked a bit too open when Agah Özver came free, but Marian Oelke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Duran Ersan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Trabzonspor's supporters rose to their feet, but Duran Ersan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marian Oelke breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
