In the 4thth minute of the game Silverio Tuste who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vejbystrand's 龙挺卫 was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Newells Old Boys's Serafino Jurdan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sonny Karlberg in the 5th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernt Nordlund in the 8th minute of play forced Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Serafino Jurdan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 14th match minute, Vejbystrand was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kennet Sävström to maneuver through the defense. In the 17th minute Joachim Anselius shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Serafino Jurdan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Blanco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but 龙挺卫 made a huge save. Friedrich Reubold scored 0-1 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Serafino Jurdan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vejbystrand's 龙挺卫 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silverio Tuste in the 24th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Silverio Tuste in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck 龙挺卫 prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sonny Karlberg in the 29th minute of play forced Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Serafino Jurdan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute Silverio Tuste shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 龙挺卫 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Serafino Jurdan came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Vejbystrand's Bernt Nordlund. But to his dismay, Bernt Nordlund quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Silverio Tuste sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silverio Tuste got free with 龙挺卫 in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Joachim Anselius fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Serafino Jurdan having to interfere. Cristian Blanco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 龙挺卫 having to interfere. In the 44th minute Silverio Tuste shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 龙挺卫 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute Joachim Anselius shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Serafino Jurdan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Silverio Tuste made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Vejbystrand's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Blanco came free, but 龙挺卫 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Harald Ennegren struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Serafino Jurdan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vejbystrand. 龙挺卫 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Blanco, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. In the 61st minute, Vejbystrand's Harald Ennegren dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. A hard shot 64 in the game by Harald Ennegren from a close distance when the talented Serafino Jurdan managed to make a qualified save. Newells Old Boys's players were relieved. When the match clock showed 68 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Harald Ennegren sped through Newells Old Boys's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Serafino Jurdan. Serafino Jurdan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernt Nordlund in the 71st minute of the match. Newells Old Boys made a substitution. Eliseo Vela replaced Cesar Cordairo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernt Nordlund in the 85th minute of play forced Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Serafino Jurdan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Newells Old Boys's zone, Bernt Nordlund stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Serafino Jurdan came out of the goal and Bernt Nordlund tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Bernt Nordlund fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vejbystrand's protests and gave Bernt Nordlund a yellow card for diving instead. After 92 played minutes Vejbystrand got a freekick which was hit by Bernt Nordlund. The Newells Old Boys supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Vejbystrand's performance. The match ended with a win for Vejbystrand.
