In the 34th minute, Feyyaz Erol made a precise shot to the right of Pål Sefastsson. National Team Cape-Verde's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. A sloppy throw-in by Firmo Abella in the 46th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by National Team Cape-Verde's Roland Björklund.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bennvar Post to make the kick off. In the 56th minute Feyyaz Erol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pål Sefastsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bennvar Post who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Stéphane Brault when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Pål Sefastsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ramon Centurión, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
