After a rather tough play, Várzea F.C.'s Marcos Roberto got a free kick in the 5th minute. Sol Izquierdo charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sol Izquierdo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Martin Palermo F.C.'s Sol Izquierdo got a free kick in the 7th minute. Luiz Eduardo Alcântara shot from long distance in the 8th minute, but Silvio Bazil was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. Carlos Augusto Quintal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enrico Giammarino in the 16th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the match, Martin Palermo F.C.'s goalkeeper Silvio Bazil had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dé Montenegro. In the 18th minute, Rogério Saldanha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Várzea F.C.'s Carlos Augusto Quintal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giovanni Arósio in the 20th minute of play. Carlos Augusto Quintal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guillermo Izquierdo, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. A collision led to Várzea F.C. getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Rogério Saldanha hit a great ball. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Martin Palermo F.C.'s goalkeeper Silvio Bazil, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 30th minute of the match Várzea F.C. got a corner. Martin Palermo F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luiz Eduardo Alcântara ran over to the corner to take the kick. If Valdomiro Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Augusto Quintal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enrico Giammarino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlos Augusto Quintal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guillermo Izquierdo in the 38th minute of the match. In the 39th minute Tiburcio Pepillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Augusto Quintal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 46 minutes, Valdomiro Duarte managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Várzea F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Valdomiro Duarte was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Martin Palermo F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tiburcio Pepillo in the 49th minute. A nice corner shot did that Tiburcio Pepillo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Carlos Augusto Quintal quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The wind increased when Guillermo Izquierdo made the kick off in the second half. Várzea F.C.'s Carlos Augusto Quintal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giovanni Arósio in the 54th minute of play. Carlos Augusto Quintal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giovanni Arósio in the 57th minute of play. 60 minutes into the match, Várzea F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Enrico Giammarino came free, but Carlos Augusto Quintal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Giovanni Arósio scored 0-1 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlos Augusto Quintal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Carlos Augusto Quintal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tiburcio Pepillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Martin Palermo F.C.'s Silvio Bazil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dé Montenegro in the 66th minute of play. After 68 played minutes Martin Palermo F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Celso Felipillo. Várzea F.C.'s Anton Scutaru was substituted for Alf Tennenbaum. Várzea F.C.'s Anderson Paiva was substituted for Valdomiro Duarte. In the 70th minute, Celso Felipillo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dé Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 72nd minute, Giovanni Arósio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Martin Palermo F.C.'s Silvio Bazil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rogério Saldanha in the 73rd minute of play. 73 minutes into the game, Várzea F.C.'s Rogério Saldanha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Silvio Bazil made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Giovanni Arósio took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlos Augusto Quintal. Carlos Augusto Quintal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Martin Palermo F.C.'s Silvio Bazil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rogério Saldanha in the 82nd minute of play. Silvio Bazil took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dé Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Narcis Mustață came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Martin Palermo F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Narcis Mustață couldn't finish the play. Carlos Augusto Quintal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Celso Felipillo in the 88th minute. 91 minutes into the match, Martin Palermo F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Anderson Paiva came free, but Silvio Bazil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Silvio Bazil stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anderson Paiva's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. Martin Palermo F.C.'s Silvio Bazil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dé Montenegro in the 95th minute of play. Silvio Bazil made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anderson Paiva in the 97th minute of play. The Martin Palermo F.C. players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
