Zigmantas Gimbutas ran back to his position shaking his head. Primitivo Jeraldo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 16th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Jordão in the 19th minute of play forced Palermo AFC's goalkeeper Primitivo Jeraldo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 20th minute of the match SC Braga got a corner. Palermo AFC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Benjamin de Lara ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to SC Braga's Alberto Malheiro getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rodrigo Bautista in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Laçın Cumayev prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marcelo Domiku made a great header on Palermo AFC's corner, it was just that SC Braga's Laçın Cumayev managed to reach the ball for a save. If Zigmantas Gimbutas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Rodrigo Bautista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 38th minute Rodrigo Bautista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laçın Cumayev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valdomiro Lira hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. 41 minutes into the game, Palermo AFC's Rodrigo Bautista nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Laçın Cumayev made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 51st minute, Rodrigo Bautista ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Laçın Cumayev was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. 62 minutes into the game, Zigmantas Gimbutas recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Primitivo Jeraldo. Zigmantas Gimbutas showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. 77 minutes into the game, Rodrigo Bautista cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Laçın Cumayev was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. SC Braga made a substitution. Antonio Cieri replaced Benjamin de Lara. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stig-Åke Mattsson in the 83rd minute of play forced Palermo AFC's goalkeeper Primitivo Jeraldo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Primitivo Jeraldo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 94 played minutes SC Braga got a freekick which was hit by Lu Xun Lei. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
