Dé Montenegro ran back to his position shaking his head. Várzea F.C.'s Luiz Eduardo Alcântara quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Jimmy Stenberg, made in the 39th minute of the game. Yorrick Zoethout stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dé Montenegro's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. In the 43rd minute, Steven Homan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 48 played minutes, Várzea F.C.'s Daniel Isăceanu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Yorrick Zoethout came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Várzea F.C. reached it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
