SC Braga's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dé Montenegro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valdomiro Duarte in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Laçın Cumayev saved SC Braga from getting behind. With a little luck, SC Braga's Laçın Cumayev got control of the ball when Dé Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stig-Åke Mattsson in the 19th minute of play forced Várzea F.C.'s goalkeeper Carlos Augusto Quintal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Benjamin de Lara managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Braga's supporters rose to their feet, but Benjamin de Lara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Augusto Quintal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Stig-Åke Mattsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 24 minutes into the match, Várzea F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Stig-Åke Mattsson came free, but Carlos Augusto Quintal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of SC Braga booed when Várzea F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that Várzea F.C. were the better team. Várzea F.C.'s players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
