In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rafaela FC's goalkeeper Inocencio Veronica, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 11th minute, Piara Santo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Inocencio Veronica was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. With a little luck, Waitakere F.C.'s Marcos Burni got control of the ball when Nico Veit tried to sneak it across the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 17 minutes, Marcos Burni successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The audience was convinced that Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcos Burni was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Piara Santo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Inocencio Veronica showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Piara Santo, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. With a little luck, Waitakere F.C.'s Marcos Burni got control of the ball when Emiliano Furia tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcos Burni stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Inocencio Veronica came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Waitakere F.C.'s Piara Santo. But to his dismay, Piara Santo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 30 minutes into the match, Octavio Gonzo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Marcos Burni, 1-2. In the 35th minute, Piara Santo made a precise shot to the right of Inocencio Veronica. Rafaela FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. In the 38th minute of the match, Severo Oriche tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Marcos Burni saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After the first half Waitakere F.C. were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio made a kick off. Eloy Gipuzkoa hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Waitakere F.C.'s Piara Santo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Inocencio Veronica. That made the score 1-4 after 53 minutes of play. Thanks to some nice moves Gar Gamel could shoot a difficult shot in the 56th minute, which Inocencio Veronica however easily saved by the left post. Inocencio Veronica showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Piara Santo, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Piara Santo might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Inocencio Veronica. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Piara Santo ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 59th minute Piara Santo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Inocencio Veronica saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 67 minutes into the match, Waitakere F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Emiliano Furia came free, but Marcos Burni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Rafaela FC fans' excitement grew in the 67th match minute when Rafaela FC's Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Waitakere F.C. made a substitution. Gabriel Batistuta replaced Piara Santo. Waitakere F.C.'s Nacho Scocco was substituted for Delmiro Oto. Rafaela FC's Inocencio Veronica proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save Rafaela FC from getting a goal against them. 78 minutes into the match, Rafaela FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gabriel Batistuta came free, but Inocencio Veronica reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 95th minute of the match, Gabriel Batistuta got a very nice opportunity to score, but Inocencio Veronica was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The supporters of Waitakere F.C. booed when Rafaela FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ross Strong didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Waitakere F.C. players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
