Cecilio Jax came out of the goal and Duong Kuster tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Luciano Selmo came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the San Martin de Tucuman fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luciano Selmo couldn't finish the play. Eugeniusz Osikowicz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luciano Selmo in the 32nd minute of play. In the 42nd minute Paulino Lamberto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugeniusz Osikowicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Duong Kuster made the kick off in the second half. Eugeniusz Osikowicz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulino Lamberto, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. San Martin de Tucuman had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
