Cumhur Günay kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. 13 minutes into the match, Belgrano LOS PIRATAS's Herbert Pracki sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Blas Aritza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kip William in the 47th minute of play forced Belgrano LOS PIRATAS's goalkeeper Rogério Ceni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
