Hummerfiskarna's Florin Răducioiu quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Drew Zaelani, made in the 14th minute of the game. Haji Sarap took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andrea De Toro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Haji Sarap showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andrea De Toro in the 20th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Joinville City - FSCMZ defense, Andrea De Toro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Haji Sarap. The Joinville City - FSCMZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Haji Sarap should have stopped the shot. Andrea De Toro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Haji Sarap having to make a save. In the 32nd minute Andrea De Toro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haji Sarap saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Holger Mattsson came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Joinville City - FSCMZ's Adhemar Santos. But to his dismay, Adhemar Santos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Hummerfiskarna's Bennvar Maradona was substituted for Rickard Malmström. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 54th minute, Marcus Allbäck ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Holger Mattsson was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Hummerfiskarna's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Hummerfiskarna players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense.
