Pipis Karapatakis started the match with the kick off. Pipis Karapatakis received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Matias Carlomagno came out and tried to block the shot, but Pipis Karapatakis slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 8th minute. With an all-out effort, Grêmio FBPA's Matias Carlomagno threw himself towards the right post 11 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Darío Pereyra, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Mo Yi Sang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Grêmio FBPA defense, Mo Yi Sang kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jardel Sanches. The Grêmio FBPA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jardel Sanches should have stopped the shot. 23 minutes into the game, Darío Pereyra recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Matias Carlomagno. Darío Pereyra showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. 37 minutes into the match, San Lorenzo's goal looked a bit too open when Darío Pereyra came free, but Matias Carlomagno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Matias Carlomagno made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Ted Hoogenkamp sent off a good shot on target. In the 39th minute, Mo Yi Sang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Matias Carlomagno managed to avoid a goal in the 41stth minute, when Grêmio FBPA's Ted Hoogenkamp fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Matias Carlomagno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pipis Karapatakis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pipis Karapatakis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mo Yi Sang was the one to do the kick off. Darío Pereyra took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Matias Carlomagno. Matias Carlomagno dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Matias Carlomagno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ted Hoogenkamp, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Grêmio FBPA's Jardel Sanches got control of the ball when Mo Yi Sang tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 63 played minutes Grêmio FBPA got a freekick which was hit by Ted Hoogenkamp. A collision led to San Lorenzo getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Kara Melo hit a great ball. Matias Carlomagno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filiph Biörling in the 72nd minute of play. Martin Lleir kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. San Lorenzo's Eric Dică was substituted for Martin Lleir. San Lorenzo's Fausto Estebano was substituted for Jan Wallman. In the 81st match minute, San Lorenzo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Lleir to maneuver through the defense. Matias Carlomagno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filiph Biörling, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Deivid de Sena charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Deivid de Sena the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Matias Carlomagno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Darío Pereyra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 95 minutes into the game, Pipis Karapatakis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Matias Carlomagno was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Grêmio FBPA fully deserved thier win.
