The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nereo Frederico hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. In the 15th minute, one of C.A.Independiente:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for C.A.Independiente. When the match had been going on for 16 minutes, San Lorenzo's Mo Yi Sang got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ciriaco Macias. 21 minutes into the game, San Lorenzo's Kara Melo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ciriaco Macias made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Mo Yi Sang sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Doni Arce struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Ciriaco Macias didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for San Lorenzo. After 33 played minutes Doni Arce rounded C.A.Independiente's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 4-0. In the 65th minute of the match San Lorenzo got a corner. C.A.Independiente's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gigi Penaru ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 67th match minute, San Lorenzo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kara Melo to maneuver through the defense. Ciriaco Macias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mo Yi Sang, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute.
