In the 3rd minute, Oséas Cerezo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Alexandria fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Nkosi Thompson might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Robinho do Vale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nkosi Thompson ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 15th minute Nkosi Thompson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robinho do Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adrianinho Gonçalves kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Legako Kerns received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Robinho do Vale came out and tried to block the shot, but Legako Kerns slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 17th minute. Adrianinho Gonçalves kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Alexandria's goalkeeper Robinho do Vale, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 30th minute, Oséas Cerezo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Alexandria's Robinho do Vale got control of the ball when Maxwell Mufadi tried to sneak it across the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Alexandria's goal looked a bit too open when Nkosi Thompson came free, but Robinho do Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Maxwell Mufadi came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Maqwathini fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maxwell Mufadi couldn't finish the play. In the 45th match minute, Alexandria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waldemar Pinho to maneuver through the defense. Alexandria's Léo Prestes got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nkosi Thompson was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Adrianinho Gonçalves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alexandria's supporters rose to their feet, but Adrianinho Gonçalves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boyisani Nkadimeng breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thami Ngake's late challenge caught a Alexandria's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thami Ngake helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Alexandria booed when Maqwathini was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thami Ngake didn't get a good kick on the ball. Robinho do Vale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maxwell Mufadi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adrianinho Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Adrianinho Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boyisani Nkadimeng having to interfere. In the 64th match minute, Alexandria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrianinho Gonçalves to maneuver through the defense. Maxwell Mufadi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Robinho do Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maxwell Mufadi, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Adrianinho Gonçalves hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Robinho do Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nkosi Thompson in the 70th minute of play. Nkosi Thompson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robinho do Vale having to interfere. 82 minutes into the match, Alexandria's goal looked a bit too open when Nkosi Thompson came free, but Robinho do Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Boyisani Nkadimeng took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Léo Prestes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute, Léo Prestes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Boyisani Nkadimeng was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. In the 93rd minute, Léo Prestes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
