With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bruno Sauveur in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mateo Llorienzo saved Merengue FC from getting behind. When the match clock showed 34 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Uriel Ferrer sped through Merengue FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Mateo Llorienzo. Mateo Llorienzo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Sauveur in the 39th minute of play. Everardo Nerio's late challenge caught a Defensores de Lombroso's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Everardo Nerio helped the player get up and apologised. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bruno Sauveur got free with Mateo Llorienzo in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 44th match minute, Defensores de Lombroso was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cecilio Lesardo to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
