Papillion Cheek was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adrian Rowling during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 8 played minutes FC Amsterdam Wanderers got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Rowling. Toronto FC's Papillion Cheek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Love in the 18th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Feridun Eronat in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Papillion Cheek saved Toronto FC from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Feridun Eronat in the 29th minute of play forced Toronto FC's goalkeeper Papillion Cheek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 33 minutes, Feridun Eronat managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Amsterdam Wanderers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Feridun Eronat was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Damon Kitchen's late challenge caught a Toronto FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Damon Kitchen helped the player get up and apologised. Wesley Rush had in the 35thth minute some difficulties stopping Lance Lacey's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Ruben Love hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Wesley Rush made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rudolf Talbot in the 37th minute of play. The supporters of FC Amsterdam Wanderers booed when Toronto FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abraham Mejia didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 40 played minutes, FC Amsterdam Wanderers's Damon Kitchen shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Papillion Cheek came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Amsterdam Wanderers reached it. Toronto FC's Papillion Cheek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Feridun Eronat in the 42nd minute of play. Abraham Mejia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wesley Rush having to interfere. 78 minutes into the game, Toronto FC's Wilbur Flowers nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wesley Rush made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. If Orval Briggs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th match minute, Toronto FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lance Lacey to maneuver through the defense. Feridun Eronat hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. 97 minutes into the game, Wilbur Flowers cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Wesley Rush was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched FC Amsterdam Wanderers eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
