In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Basilio Justin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Club Atlético Atlanta booed when Borussia Dortmund was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duardo Bolantin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonatan Felipo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Xofre Astola came out and tried to block the shot, but Jonatan Felipo slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 17th minute. Basilio Justin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Duardo Bolantin's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. Flor Orbaneja charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Flor Orbaneja the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Isadoro Archibeque's late challenge caught a Club Atlético Atlanta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Isadoro Archibeque helped the player get up and apologised. The Club Atlético Atlanta players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Borussia Dortmund were winning 1-3.

Filipe Zaballos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Basilio Justin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. During the 53rd minute of the match Flor Orbaneja completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Flor Orbaneja a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 59th minute Joaquin Fonso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xofre Astola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Jonatan Felipo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Xofre Astola was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Borussia Dortmund's Valdo Manurga got a free kick in the 68th minute. The supporters of Club Atlético Atlanta booed when Borussia Dortmund was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artizar Vede didn't get a good kick on the ball. Borussia Dortmund's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. A collision led to Club Atlético Atlanta getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Elpidio Shantala hit a great ball. Basilio Justin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Duardo Bolantin, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. When Gaston Joanes fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Atlético Atlanta's protests and gave Gaston Joanes a yellow card for diving instead. The long shot by Artizar Vede in the 83rd minute really tested Basilio Justin's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. A collision led to Borussia Dortmund getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Filipe Zaballos hit a great ball. Leonardo Paulin kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Filipe Zaballos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basilio Justin having to interfere. 91 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goal looked a bit too open when Valdo Manurga came free, but Basilio Justin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gaston Joanes was shown his second yellow card after 92 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Club Atlético Atlanta getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Gaston Joanes hit a great ball. Borussia Dortmund's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
