Romão Miranda started the match with the kick off. Max Sevier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvério Sabrosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Max Sevier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrício Poças, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ulric Donsante got free with Raimundo Delgado in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 25th minute, Ulric Donsante fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Raimundo Delgado, passed just outside the right post. Tade Zeller's late challenge caught a Garanhão do SUL's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tade Zeller helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Garanhão do SUL booed when FC Lugano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tade Zeller didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 30th minute Patrício Poças shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Max Sevier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 30 minutes of play, Garanhão do SUL's Patrício Poças made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Max Sevier was left in no man's land by his defense there! Raimundo Delgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Odysseus De Souza in the 35th minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Ulric Donsante dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Raimundo Delgado, 2-1. After 42 played minutes Garanhão do SUL got a freekick which was hit by Luís Figo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiziano Gamache in the 44th minute of play forced Garanhão do SUL's goalkeeper Raimundo Delgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raimundo Delgado came out of the goal in the 48th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Lugano's Odysseus De Souza. But to his dismay, Odysseus De Souza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tiziano Gamache made a kick off. Max Sevier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvério Sabrosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to FC Lugano getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Florian Diederich hit a great ball. Raimundo Delgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Florian Diederich in the 57th minute of play. Tade Zeller kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Garanhão do SUL's Aristides Brochado got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 65th minute, Tito Waechter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Romão Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC Lugano's Max Sevier proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save FC Lugano from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiziano Gamache in the 76th minute of play forced Garanhão do SUL's goalkeeper Raimundo Delgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th match minute, Garanhão do SUL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvério Sabrosa to maneuver through the defense. Silvério Sabrosa hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. A collision led to Garanhão do SUL getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Filinto Coelho hit a great ball. 88 minutes in the game, Tiziano Gamache dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. 90 minutes into the game, one of Garanhão do SUL:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Raimundo Delgado had in the 92ndth minute some difficulties stopping Tiziano Gamache's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. If Fidelio Haller had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Garanhão do SUL's Silvério Brochado got a free kick in the 96th minute. The supporters of FC Lugano booed when Garanhão do SUL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artur Curado didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Lugano's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
