Max Sevier was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 15th minute of the game, Olimpiu Teodorescu landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Guido Emennegger's late challenge caught a FC Cosula-BTF-'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Guido Emennegger helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, FC Lugano's Guido Emennegger got a free kick in the 16th minute. In the 17th minute of the match Aron Mitruț sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Max Sevier skillfully saved the ball. Ilie Brumaru was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tiziano Gamache showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 23 minute of play. FC Cosula-BTF-'s Ilie Brumaru proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save FC Cosula-BTF- from getting a goal against them. Sandu Bărbânță hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tiziano Gamache was the one to do the kick off. Max Sevier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sergiu Rădoi in the 72nd minute of play. FC Cosula-BTF-'s Ilie Brumaru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiziano Gamache in the 75th minute of play. Max Sevier was out of position in the 78 minute of play, and Sergiu Rădoi capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Sergiu Rădoi really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. FC Lugano's Matteo Gartenmann was substituted for Tiziano Gamache. A collision led to FC Cosula-BTF- getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Sergiu Rădoi hit a great ball. Ilie Brumaru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matteo Gartenmann in the 94th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see FC Lugano lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
