Cayetano Rito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisinho Maciel, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. The corner led Cactos's Mario Yepes to fire away a dangerous shot which Cayetano Rito despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Dieguinho Amaral made the kick off in the second half. Enrique Falcão kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 93rd minute of the game. One of Paulopolis:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cactos:s goal. Mario Yepes shot the penalty kick right outside the post. When Dieguinho Amaral came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Paulopolis fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dieguinho Amaral couldn't finish the play. When the final whistle sounded Cactos left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Paulopolis.
