Fc Gliwice's Sebastian Karp played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wayne Rooney in the 9th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Wayne Rooney had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sebastian Karp. Fc Gliwice's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wayne Rooney was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Sebastian Karp didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Matias Bilintx went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Óscar Cordoba made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Radowit Kuszczak sent off a good shot on target. In the 18th match minute, Fc Gliwice was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jakub Patrylo to maneuver through the defense. Sebastian Karp made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matias Bilintx in the 19th minute of play. Matias Bilintx might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sebastian Karp. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Matias Bilintx ran back to his position shaking his head. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-8 lead.

The wind increased when Matias Bilintx made the kick off in the second half. Fc Gliwice's defense didn't have a chance, in the 53rd minute, when Matias Bilintx scored to the left of an out of position Sebastian Karp, making the score, 0-9. Saturnino Curcio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Sebastian Karp made a huge save. When Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx in the 57th minute got a chance for a shot 57th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sebastian Karp showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matias Bilintx in the 62nd minute of play forced Fc Gliwice's goalkeeper Sebastian Karp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matias Bilintx took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sebastian Karp. Sebastian Karp dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-11. Matias Bilintx's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sebastian Karp read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. 78 minutes into the game, Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sebastian Karp made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-13. Sporting de Gijón's Carolo Ovando was substituted for Alejandro Rufo. After 84 minutes, Matias Bilintx made it 0-14 with a short kick to the right side. Fc Gliwice's Sebastian Karp tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Saturnino Curcio struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Sebastian Karp didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting de Gijón. If Matias Bilintx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Fc Gliwice fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Sporting de Gijón were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
