Garda™'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Barry Dobson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Laza Rašić struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Trevor Featherstone didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Garda™. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victor Oates in the 16th minute of play forced Garda™'s goalkeeper Zlatan Perić to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zlatan Perić made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronnie Endean in the 27th minute of play. Leigh's Trevor Featherstone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Strahinja Sredojević in the 28th minute of play. After 29 played minutes Garda™ got a freekick which was hit by Koča Madžgalj. Dennis Baker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zlatan Perić having to interfere. Dennis Baker took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zlatan Perić. Zlatan Perić dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 41 minutes into the match, Victor Oates had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zlatan Perić. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dennis Baker was the one to do the kick off. After 53 played minutes Garda™ got a freekick which was hit by Momir Milenković. 55 minutes into the match, Garda™'s goal looked a bit too open when Victor Oates came free, but Zlatan Perić reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leigh's Dennis Baker got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 67th minute, Strahinja Sredojević hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dennis Baker got free with Zlatan Perić in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 84 minutes, Dennis Baker mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Leigh and the Garda™ players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Leigh getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Dennis Baker hit a great ball. Dennis Baker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zlatan Perić having to interfere. Trevor Featherstone came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Garda™'s Strahinja Sredojević. But to his dismay, Strahinja Sredojević quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. The supporters of Garda™ booed when Leigh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victor Oates didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leigh played a much better game than Garda™ and deserved their victory. The Garda™ players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
