Spectators: 36 (Terracing: 28, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Adrianinho Hoffmann made the kick off which started today's match. Trevor Featherstone took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Augusto Correia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Dennis Baker managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leigh's supporters rose to their feet, but Dennis Baker was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sérgio Velloso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Leigh's Victor Oates got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 12th minute, Dennis Baker left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Leigh fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronnie Endean in the 15th minute of play forced Salmonella's goalkeeper Sérgio Velloso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andy Bailey charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Andy Bailey the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Andy Bailey kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Salmonella's Adrianinho Hoffmann got a free kick in the 25th minute. Gary Bilton kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Sérgio Velloso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Oates in the 35th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dennis Baker in the 36th minute of play forced Salmonella's goalkeeper Sérgio Velloso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 37th play minutes Dennis Baker shot 0-3, a short shot which went by Sérgio Velloso and just under the crossbar into goal. 41 minutes into the match, Salmonella's goal looked a bit too open when Dennis Baker came free, but Sérgio Velloso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victor Oates in the 42nd minute of play forced Salmonella's goalkeeper Sérgio Velloso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Salmonella players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Leigh were winning 0-3.

Dennis Baker recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dennis Baker could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Sérgio Velloso made a huge save. Zé Augusto Correia's late challenge caught a Leigh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zé Augusto Correia helped the player get up and apologised. If Victor Oates had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adrianinho Hoffmann kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Leigh's Dennis Baker slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sérgio Velloso. That made the score 0-4 after 61 minutes of play. Sérgio Velloso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dennis Baker in the 68th minute. Ronnie Endean recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leigh's Trevor Featherstone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrianinho Hoffmann in the 71st minute of play. Ronnie Endean fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sérgio Velloso having to interfere. The supporters of Leigh booed when Salmonella was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Fabiano Marinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Dennis Baker came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Leigh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dennis Baker couldn't finish the play. In the 81st minute, Victor Oates fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Sérgio Velloso, passed just outside the right post. Through an outstanding action, after 83 minutes, Sérgio Velloso successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After a rather tough play, Salmonella's Luís Fabiano Marinho got a free kick in the 86th minute. Sérgio Velloso came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Leigh's Stan Winship. But to his dismay, Stan Winship quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Sérgio Velloso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dennis Baker in the 96th minute of play. Leigh played a much better game than Salmonella and deserved their victory. The Salmonella players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
