Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kurt Hamrin in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Atahan Balon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Kevin Keegan came free with the goalkeeper in the 9th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Atahan Balon could save by the left post. Knut Rudberg hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice moves Kevin Keegan could shoot a difficult shot in the 17th minute, which Atahan Balon however easily saved by the left post. In the 18th minute Jérémie Boix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olov Wahlnäs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 22 minutes Kevin Keegan got an excellent opportunity and fired away a shot on goal, but Atahan Balon was perfectly placed and executed a great save. Despite close surveillance by the defense, Kevin Keegan managed to send off a shot that put the ball into the goal to the left of a disappointed goalkeeper. 1-0 in the 22nd minute. Olov Wahlnäs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jérémie Boix in the 27th minute of play. Atahan Balon made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Kevin Keegan sent off a good shot on target. Atahan Balon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kurt Hamrin in the 31st minute of the match. 42 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Luka Ljubenković came free, but Olov Wahlnäs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kevin Keegan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Atahan Balon having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The supporters of Skövde AIK booed when Los Muchachos del 86 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Babbis Boukouvalas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 57 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Olov Wahlnäs had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jérémie Boix. Atahan Balon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 94 minutes into the match, Sander Tielemans had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Olov Wahlnäs. Skövde AIK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sander Tielemans was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. In the 98th minute, Fabio Bencivenni left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Los Muchachos del 86 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
