Branislav Velchevski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Qu Sen Yan, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Qu Sen Yan received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Branislav Velchevski came out and tried to block the shot, but Qu Sen Yan slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 17th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Gabon in the 25th minute of play forced Atlético Montserrat's goalkeeper Jean-Jacques von der Schulenburg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Michael Owen kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Branislav Velchevski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michael Owen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the match, Elpidio Francis notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Atlético Montserrat's Jean-Jacques von der Schulenburg. Jean-Jacques von der Schulenburg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Branislav Velchevski was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but 崔光笑 showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-2 in the 40 minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elpidio Francis in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jean-Jacques von der Schulenburg saved Atlético Montserrat from getting behind. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-2.

ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA made a substitution. André Monclús replaced Elpidio Francis. Atlético Montserrat's Ceferino Iraido was substituted for Zula Jajesniak. Branislav Velchevski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 崔光笑, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Branislav Velchevski came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by Atlético Montserrat's Michael Owen. But to his dismay, Michael Owen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. In the 65th minute 崔光笑 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Branislav Velchevski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If André Monclús had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Atlético Montserrat's Jean-Jacques von der Schulenburg got control of the ball when André Monclús tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jean-Jacques von der Schulenburg came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's André Monclús. But to his dismay, André Monclús quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-3. Branislav Velchevski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ceferino Iraido in the 96th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Atlético Montserrat.
