The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Belo Alvarez in the 6thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Olov Wahlnäs, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chen Ao Fan in the 10th minute of play forced A.D. Alcorcón's goalkeeper Maurino Serena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Chen Ao Fan in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Maurino Serena prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 14thth minute of the game Chen Ao Fan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but A.D. Alcorcón's Maurino Serena was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The attack was good, but when Chen Ao Fan in the 14th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Skövde AIK were awarded a corner in the 17th minute after A.D. Alcorcón's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Chen Ao Fan took the corner. The supporters of A.D. Alcorcón booed when Skövde AIK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filip Brolin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute, Belo Alvarez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The A.D. Alcorcón fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 36th minute of the match, Belo Alvarez got a very nice opportunity to score, but Olov Wahlnäs was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Maurino Serena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Keegan in the 42nd minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Belo Alvarez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Olov Wahlnäs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manolo Bacete in the 53rd minute of the match. In the 57th minute, Kurt Hamrin reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Maurino Serena. The goal made the score 1-2. If Kurt Hamrin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Skövde AIK made a substitution. Jerry Williams replaced Chen Ao Fan. Olov Wahlnäs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manolo Bacete in the 67th minute of play. Olov Wahlnäs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manolo Bacete in the 70th minute of the match. In the 70th minute, Esteban Vadillos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Maurino Serena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Keegan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd minute of the match, Kevin Keegan tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Maurino Serena saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 78 played minutes A.D. Alcorcón got a freekick which was hit by Leroy Antunez. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jerry Williams got free with Maurino Serena in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A.D. Alcorcón's Maurino Serena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Keegan in the 85th minute of play. Esteban Vadillos kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. A hard shot by Kevin Keegan from long distance, 90 minutes into the match, got Maurino Serena's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Olov Wahlnäs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manolo Bacete, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Hans Petersson fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Skövde AIK's protests and gave Hans Petersson a yellow card for diving instead. Leroy Antunez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Olov Wahlnäs having to make a save. Olov Wahlnäs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leroy Antunez in the 97th minute of play. Skövde AIK's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
