Arnaldo Gabon could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Pankracy Glogowski made a huge save. In the 33rd minute, Hermengildo Erroman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Elpidio Francis in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pankracy Glogowski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 36th minute Mugur Chiriac shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Branislav Velchevski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pankracy Glogowski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elpidio Francis in the 38th minute of play. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Petrică Măcriș got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Club Atlético Atlanta defense, Elpidio Francis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pankracy Glogowski. The Club Atlético Atlanta fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pankracy Glogowski should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Elpidio Francis took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Pankracy Glogowski to make any attempt to save it. The audience was convinced that André Monclús's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pankracy Glogowski was relentless in the 69th minute of the game.
