When Tedj Sellal came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the MZ Country fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tedj Sellal couldn't finish the play. In the 44th minute, Lari Sonniks hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmond Kerkar in the 68th minute of play forced Indonesia's goalkeeper Haji Sarap to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Haji Sarap took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Noureddine Madjer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
