Seating: 236, VIP seats: 20) Turkey's Turgut Soyuer started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Frank Rost made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Turgut Soyuer in the 3rd minute of play. Turkey's Tevfik Hunalp quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Larry Houben, made in the 4th minute of the game. In the 5th minute of the match, Ture Juniel tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Cankut Wakabayashi saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 8 minutes into the game, Turgut Soyuer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Frank Rost was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cankut Wakabayashi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ture Juniel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Turgut Soyuer in the 14th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Frank Rost to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frank Rost showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aydın Tor, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Cankut Wakabayashi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ture Juniel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the game, Ture Juniel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Cankut Wakabayashi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 23 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Germany! Uwe Birmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cankut Wakabayashi having to interfere. Rupert Hermes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cankut Wakabayashi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. The corner led Germany's Uwe Birmes to fire away a dangerous shot which Cankut Wakabayashi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Turkey's goalkeeper Cankut Wakabayashi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rupert Hermes. Frank Rost made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aydın Tor in the 37th minute of play. Aydın Tor recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Frank Rost showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aydın Tor, who was totally free with the ball in the 50th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Róbert Štriker to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the game, Müslüm Baba cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Cankut Wakabayashi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet as Turgut Soyuer kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Frank Rost. That made the score 2-3 in the 58 minute of play. Germany's Sulo Montaña was substituted for Müslüm Baba. Turkey's Gürhan Sarıoğlu was substituted for Aydın Tor. The supporters of Germany booed when Turkey was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahmet Boran Aktay didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cankut Wakabayashi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Róbert Štriker, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Frank Rost took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Dos Reis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Turkey walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
