The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hólmfastur Óskarsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Iceland getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Petr Čech was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Petr Čech made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-0. Petr Čech made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teddy Tholsted in the 95th minute of play. When the match clock showed 96 minutes, the score became 9-0 when Svend Betz sped through Iceland's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Petr Čech. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Denmark had played much better football throughout.
