Aurel Crivoi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gennadiy Yereschenko, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. In the 15th minute, Arthur Clarke left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Romania fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arthur Clarke got free with Vitaliy Vischak in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arthur Clarke could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Vitaliy Vischak made a huge save. Aurel Crivoi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gennadiy Yereschenko, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 27th minute Gennadiy Yereschenko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aurel Crivoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivan Sobol in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aurel Crivoi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 29th minute of the match Ukraine got a corner. Romania's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Yuriy Gandzyuk ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Ukraine's Yuriy Gandzyuk to fire away a dangerous shot which Aurel Crivoi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Romania's Gigi Joanță quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Pylyp Shumak, made in the 31st minute of the game. Mugur Chiriac had several of the Ukraine's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 34 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 4-0 score and a disappointed Vitaliy Vischak as he didn't even see the shot coming. Vitaliy Vischak made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mugur Chiriac in the 38th minute of play. The supporters of Ukraine booed when Romania was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pompiliu Cristian didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Mugur Chiriac's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vitaliy Vischak was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. 48 minutes into the match, Romania's goal looked a bit too open when Ivan Sobol came free, but Aurel Crivoi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 48th minute Ivan Sobol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aurel Crivoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ivan Sobol to make the kick off. With a little luck, Romania's Aurel Crivoi got control of the ball when Gennadiy Yereschenko tried to sneak it across the goal line. Aurel Crivoi came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Ukraine's Ivan Sobol. But to his dismay, Ivan Sobol quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Vitaliy Vischak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mugur Chiriac in the 61st minute of the match. 63 minutes into the match, Ukraine's goal looked a bit too open when Mugur Chiriac came free, but Vitaliy Vischak reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mugur Chiriac fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vitaliy Vischak having to interfere. Ukraine made a substitution. Rostyslav Solodkyi replaced Yuriy Gandzyuk. Romania's Alex Eugen was substituted for Xavi Popescu. Romania's Traian Curuțiu was substituted for Corneliu Cozac. Ukraine's Vsevolod Mischenko was substituted for Gennadiy Yereschenko. Aurel Crivoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivan Sobol in the 83rd minute of the match. In the 87th minute, Ivan Sobol reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Aurel Crivoi. The goal made the score 4-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Sobol in the 90th minute of play forced Romania's goalkeeper Aurel Crivoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ukraine's Vitaliy Vischak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Eugen in the 91st minute of play. 93 minutes into the game, Romania's Arthur Clarke nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vitaliy Vischak made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-2. With a little luck, Romania's Aurel Crivoi got control of the ball when Vsevolod Mischenko tried to sneak it across the goal line. Romania's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
