Lavaine Kimball made in the 27th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Luxembourg's Tim Bodenschatz. Greid Tinsmith stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Miguel Sanches's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. When Naw Kean, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 37 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Karlheinz Ludecke was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Wales's Trent Larkin was substituted for Wmffre Kidder. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Miguel Sanches made a kick off. Naw Kean's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Karlheinz Ludecke read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. After 60 played minutes Wales got a freekick which was hit by Lavaine Kimball. Luxembourg's Tim Tudor was substituted for Edmund Achenbach. Luxembourg made a substitution. Luka Weber replaced Zeno Pfützner. After 64 minutes Wales's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Yannick Bartz who took care of the corner kick. Luka Weber was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 74 minutes into the match, Wales's goal looked a bit too open when Luka Weber came free, but Greid Tinsmith reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nodens Charlton kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Wales had won after a very even match.
