Kerry Sellers might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chen Qi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kerry Sellers ran back to his position shaking his head. 4 minutes into the match, Skulls FC's goal looked a bit too open when Kerry Sellers came free, but Chen Qi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kerry Sellers in the 6th minute of play forced Skulls FC's goalkeeper Chen Qi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Skulls FC's Chen Qi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Skulls FC from getting a goal against them. 8 minutes into the game, Erberk Müftüoğlu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. C. A. Independiente's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Skulls FC the free kick. After 8 played minutes C. A. Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Erberk Müftüoğlu. Kerry Sellers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Farid Mondragón showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patric Moberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Chen Qi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sid Chadwick in the 18th minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 20th minute of the game. One of Skulls FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of C. A. Independiente:s goal. With a little luck, Skulls FC's Chen Qi got control of the ball when Sid Chadwick tried to sneak it across the goal line. Chen Qi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kerry Sellers's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Chen Qi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kerry Sellers in the 30th minute of play. Kerry Sellers did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Chen Qi 30 minutes into the match. Ryszard Prusinowski hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Horia Răzvan scored 2-1 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Farid Mondragón, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patric Moberg in the 42nd minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Skulls FC's Ali Koc was substituted for Kasdi Abrika. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Thorkild Falshøj stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kerry Sellers in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Chen Qi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 56 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Farid Mondragón had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Thorkild Falshøj. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kassel Djebbour during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sid Chadwick hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Kerry Sellers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Chen Qi was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Farid Mondragón showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thorkild Falshøj, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Chen Qi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xu Yun Quan in the 72nd minute of play. In the 73rd minute Sid Chadwick shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chen Qi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Farid Mondragón made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ali Koc in the 80th minute. Skulls FC's Chen Qi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kerry Sellers in the 83rd minute of play. C. A. Independiente's Sidney Forbes was substituted for Xu Yun Quan. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kerry Sellers in the 94th minute of play forced Skulls FC's goalkeeper Chen Qi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 95th minute, Abdelnasser Cherrad hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kerry Sellers struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Chen Qi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C. A. Independiente. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. C. A. Independiente were victorious despite being under pressure from Skulls FC for much of the match.
