The supporters of Gigante da Colina FC-DMZ booed when ◄▌Anatolia Athletic▐► was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Corné van Basten didn't get a good kick on the ball. 6 minutes into the match, Gigante da Colina FC-DMZ's goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Henk Veerman. Gianluigi Buffon came out of the goal and Henk Veerman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cihan Zafer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barry Baxter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 59th minute, Primitivo Balesio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gigante da Colina FC-DMZ's goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 65 minutes had been played when some careless play by Gigante da Colina FC-DMZ's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Anton Scheupach was slow to take the kick. During this time ◄▌Anatolia Athletic▐►'s players had a chance to rest. The corner led to ◄▌Anatolia Athletic▐►'s Caroll Baskin getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Gigante da Colina FC-DMZ's Arnaldo Alsua slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cihan Zafer. That made the score 0-1 after 72 minutes of play. Cihan Zafer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barry Baxter in the 79th minute of play. 81 minutes into the game, Väino Ratas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gigante da Colina FC-DMZ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ◄▌Anatolia Athletic▐► the free kick. Gigante da Colina FC-DMZ made a substitution. Albertinho Cavalcante replaced Vitor Roque. 81 minutes into the game, one of Gigante da Colina FC-DMZ:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After some careless play in the Gigante da Colina FC-DMZ defense, Hasan Bağış kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gianluigi Buffon. The Gigante da Colina FC-DMZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gianluigi Buffon should have stopped the shot.
