CRUZ DEL SUR's Lorencio Irarrázaval quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 84th minute, Alfonso Goicoechea reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Zachariasz Dudkowski. The goal made the score 1-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Carlo Darrigrande kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Zachariasz Dudkowski. That made the score 1-2 in the 90 minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Chile eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
