Candido Urbes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Hugo Fisher tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nikola Krstović scored 1-0 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joseph Söderberg, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Ingemar Nordström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Hugo Fisher took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ingemar Nordström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of AFK Petržalka booed when Mellbystrand IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chadli Said didn't get a good kick on the ball. AFK Petržalka's Alek Justus couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 13th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Mellbystrand IK. The referee ignored AFK Petržalka's protests and gave Eduard Ješo a yellow card for diving instead. Eduard Ješo hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Mellbystrand IK's Joseph Söderberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nikola Krstović in the 45th minute of play. After a rather tough play, AFK Petržalka's Conor Barco got a free kick in the 47th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dávid Strelec made a kick off. With a little luck, AFK Petržalka's Hugo Fisher got control of the ball when Arman Björklund tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hugo Fisher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Candido Urbes in the 62nd minute of play. In the 66th minute Mellbystrand IK were awarded a corner. Hubert Henriksson went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 66th minute, Alek Justus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, AFK Petržalka's Alek Justus got a free kick in the 68th minute. Magne Holmberg struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Candido Urbes in the 96th minute of play forced AFK Petržalka's goalkeeper Hugo Fisher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The AFK Petržalka fans cheered their team off the field, for while Mellbystrand IK had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
