With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronald Lammens in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hugo Fisher saved AFK Petržalka from getting behind. Fc Benefica's Denny van den Berg quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Eduard Ješo, made in the 8th minute of the game. Ronald Lammens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Hugo Fisher tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fc Benefica's Edgard Rijaard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dávid Strelec in the 11th minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Eduard Ješo in the 12th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Fc Benefica's Denny van den Berg. Hugo Fisher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronald Lammens in the 13th minute of play. Hugo Fisher made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Yuri Paauwe sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Benefica's zone, Nikola Krstović stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edgard Rijaard came out of the goal and Nikola Krstović tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 18th minute, Dávid Strelec left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AFK Petržalka fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. When AFK Petržalka's Nikola Krstović in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After 45 played minutes AFK Petržalka got a freekick which was hit by Jozef Cibulka. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dávid Strelec was the one to do the kick off. AFK Petržalka were awarded a corner in the 54th minute after Fc Benefica's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Alek Justus took the corner. The corner ended in Alek Justus almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Fc Benefica's Edgard Rijaard did a great save. Nikola Krstović blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edgard Rijaard having to make a save. Edgard Rijaard made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nikola Krstović in the 57th minute. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fc Benefica's goalkeeper Edgard Rijaard, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 88th minute, AFK Petržalka's Nikola Krstović ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Edgard Rijaard. Edgard Rijaard yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-5. In the 91st match minute, AFK Petržalka was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduard Ješo to maneuver through the defense. After 94 played minutes AFK Petržalka got a freekick which was hit by Dávid Strelec.
