The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the match, Black Knights FC's goalkeeper Trenton Call had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Federico Maia. Grant McKay hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Cosmos Soccer Club defense, Raymundo Kirkland kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jarrett Rosenberg. The Cosmos Soccer Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jarrett Rosenberg should have stopped the shot. If Donovan Heath had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rudolph Saunders charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rudolph Saunders the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jarrett Rosenberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elias Ferguson's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. A collision led to Cosmos Soccer Club getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Grant McKay hit a great ball. After 24 minutes of play, Black Knights FC's Elias Ferguson made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jarrett Rosenberg was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Barry Drummond during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jarrett Rosenberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raymundo Kirkland in the 33rd minute of play. Federico Maia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

If Federico Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elias Ferguson in the 57th minute of play forced Cosmos Soccer Club's goalkeeper Jarrett Rosenberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Cosmos Soccer Club's Federico Maia got a free kick in the 59th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Donovan Heath managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cosmos Soccer Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Donovan Heath was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trenton Call breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Black Knights FC were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after Cosmos Soccer Club's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. George Cao Xiao took the corner. 68 minutes into the match, Cosmos Soccer Club's goalkeeper Jarrett Rosenberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sidney Lin. Jarrett Rosenberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elias Ferguson, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Patrick Fontenot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sidney Lin who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 84thth minute tested the skills of Jarrett Rosenberg when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sidney Lin got free with Jarrett Rosenberg in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Black Knights FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
