Gavino Mendez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nikifor Vardev in the 10th minute of the match. Nikifor Vardev scored 0-1 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gavino Mendez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gavino Mendez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nikifor Vardev, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Todor Slaveev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nikifor Vardev made a kick off. The Flying Dutchman supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Flying Dutchman would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
