In the 20th minute, Ahmet Emir Ayvazoğlu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joe Ellerby was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 23rd minute of the match, Seth England got a very nice opportunity to score, but Balaban Cansoy was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Balaban Cansoy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harvey Branch in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute of the match, Harvey Branch tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Balaban Cansoy saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Karahalli's Balaban Cansoy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Karahalli from getting a goal against them. In the 43rd minute Joel Castledine shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Balaban Cansoy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

In the 55th match minute, Karahalli was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nejat Baysungur to maneuver through the defense. After 58 minutes of play, St. Etienne's Joel Castledine made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Balaban Cansoy was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Ahmet Emir Ayvazoğlu got free with Joe Ellerby in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 62 played minutes St. Etienne got a freekick which was hit by Sebastien Murtagh. Balaban Cansoy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Seth England, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Balaban Cansoy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joel Castledine went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. Joel Castledine kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Balaban Cansoy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Harvey Branch, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. St. Etienne's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
