Garry Kearney kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. Cliff Johnson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Tyrone Hartshorn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Middlesbrough Ironopolis's Tyrone Hartshorn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cliff Johnson in the 12th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Reggina Rangers FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after George Halliday fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After 21 minutes, Kris Stubbs mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Middlesbrough Ironopolis and the Reggina Rangers FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A throw-in in the 24th minute of the game was made by Alastair Ramsay with Kris Stubbs as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. After 25 played minutes Reggina Rangers FC got a freekick which was hit by Cliff Johnson. In the 27th minute, Larry Hassell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lenny Carr could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but George Milton made a huge save. Lenny Carr fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Milton having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cliff Johnson in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tyrone Hartshorn saved Middlesbrough Ironopolis from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Reggina Rangers FC's Cliff Johnson got a free kick in the 38th minute. If Cliff Johnson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tyrone Hartshorn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cliff Johnson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 47 minutes into the game, George Halliday was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Middlesbrough Ironopolis's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Reggina Rangers FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Middlesbrough Ironopolis's George Halliday got a free kick in the 47th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cliff Johnson to make the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Middlesbrough Ironopolis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix McCartney to maneuver through the defense. After 54 minutes of play Middlesbrough Ironopolis's Kris Stubbs was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 55th match minute, Middlesbrough Ironopolis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kris Stubbs to maneuver through the defense. 61 minutes into the match, Reggina Rangers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lenny Carr came free, but George Milton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Middlesbrough Ironopolis's zone, Cliff Johnson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tyrone Hartshorn came out of the goal and Cliff Johnson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by George Halliday in the 68th minute of play forced Reggina Rangers FC's goalkeeper George Milton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tyrone Hartshorn was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Cliff Johnson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cliff Johnson really showed his touch with that goal: 0-1. Stefan Hayles struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Tyrone Hartshorn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Reggina Rangers FC. The audience was convinced that George Halliday's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but George Milton was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Lenny Carr managed to get in a good position for a shot. Middlesbrough Ironopolis's supporters rose to their feet, but Lenny Carr was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. George Milton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 85 minutes into the match, Reggina Rangers FC's goal looked a bit too open when George Halliday came free, but George Milton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. George Halliday fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Milton having to interfere. Tyrone Hartshorn made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Stefan Hayles sent off a good shot on target. Reggina Rangers FC's Stefan Hayles got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 95th minute of the match, Cliff Johnson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tyrone Hartshorn saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The Middlesbrough Ironopolis fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Reggina Rangers FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
