Rodolphe Boisard might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fitz Donnelly. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodolphe Boisard ran back to his position shaking his head. Fitz Donnelly made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolphe Boisard in the 17th minute of play. After some careless play in the Athletic Club London FC defense, Rodolphe Boisard kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fitz Donnelly. The Athletic Club London FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fitz Donnelly should have stopped the shot. Athletic Club London FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Olympique Lyonnais the free kick. Olympique Lyonnais played a much better game than Athletic Club London FC and deserved their victory. The Athletic Club London FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
