Beinn McGrath was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 20th minute George Halliday shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beinn McGrath saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Middlesbrough Ironopolis's Tyrone Hartshorn got control of the ball when Billy Hallam tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Middlesbrough Ironopolis booed when Milano City AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bobby Lagdon didn't get a good kick on the ball. George Halliday struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Beinn McGrath didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Middlesbrough Ironopolis. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell George Halliday to make the kick off. Bobby Lagdon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 54 minutes, Billy Hallam managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Milano City AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Billy Hallam was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Beinn McGrath took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casey Oliver, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Beinn McGrath made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lenny Carr in the 58th minute of play. After 58 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Milano City AFC! A collision led to Milano City AFC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Hugh Addison hit a great ball. When Thom Lawton fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Milano City AFC's protests and gave Thom Lawton a yellow card for diving instead. Thom Lawton kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Beinn McGrath made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lenny Carr in the 71st minute of play. Tyrone Hartshorn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bobby Lagdon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 74th match minute, Milano City AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugh Addison to maneuver through the defense. Beinn McGrath made an important save on a dangerous shot by George Halliday in the 78th minute. In the 79th minute, Stan Myers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Billy Hallam took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tyrone Hartshorn. Tyrone Hartshorn dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. In the 91st match minute, Milano City AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bobby Lagdon to maneuver through the defense. 94 minutes into the game, Milano City AFC's Bobby Lagdon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tyrone Hartshorn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. The Milano City AFC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Middlesbrough Ironopolis were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
