Beerschot VAC from getting a goal against them. Barlas Göçer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Stefan Gunn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wesley Burkinshaw kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. 22 minutes into the match, Engin Nurkan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Stefan Gunn, 1-1. Batuğ Taşkesen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chris Cadwallader in the 28th minute of play. The supporters of Beşiktaş booed when K. Beerschot VAC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steven Chadwick didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arif Oğuz Nuratay hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Stefan Gunn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aysan Osman in the 38th minute. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Aysan Osman put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Stefan Gunn. Barlas Göçer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Barlas Göçer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 48 played minutes Beşiktaş got a freekick which was hit by Varol Toköz. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Engin Nurkan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute of the match K. Beerschot VAC got a corner. Beşiktaş's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ryan Wildman ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ryan Wildman made a great header on K. Beerschot VAC's corner, it was just that Beşiktaş's Batuğ Taşkesen managed to reach the ball for a save. Barlas Göçer struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Stefan Gunn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Beşiktaş. In the 64th match minute, Beşiktaş was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Şafak Tolgan to maneuver through the defense. 74 minutes into the game, Onur Urza was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Beşiktaş's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave K. Beerschot VAC the free kick. After 73 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Beşiktaş! Barlas Göçer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Beerschot VAC's Travis Beckwith got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Barlas Göçer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 95th minute, Sungurhan Kayrahan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
