In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Menchu FC's goalkeeper Camilo Salvidor, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alvaro Raymond's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Camilo Salvidor read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. 12 minutes had been played when some careless play by Menchu FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Emanuel Lucila was slow to take the kick. During this time Despidida AFC's players had a chance to rest. A collision led to Despidida AFC getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Feliksas Fenichev hit a great ball. Fernando Selatse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gabriele Batistuta, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Gabriele Batistuta was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 19th minute. Menchu FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 21 minutes into the match, Despidida AFC's Alvaro Raymond sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Camilo Salvidor narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Emanuel Lucila made a great header on Despidida AFC's corner, it was just that Menchu FC's Camilo Salvidor managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 24th minute Kajetan Gdowik shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Camilo Salvidor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Ancho Branca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 45 minutes into the match, Despidida AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Gabriele Batistuta came free, but Fernando Selatse reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Despidida AFC's Kajetan Gdowik got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alvaro Raymond made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabriele Batistuta in the 56th minute of play forced Despidida AFC's goalkeeper Fernando Selatse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gabriele Batistuta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fernando Selatse having to make a save. Despidida AFC's Pastor Tino was substituted for Kajetan Gdowik. The throw-in from Carlos Campelo in the 67th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Despidida AFC's Gabriel Silban. In the 71st minute Gabriele Batistuta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Selatse saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Menchu FC made a substitution. Arturo Roderigo replaced Primitivo Rocendo. Menchu FC's Gaston Firmo was substituted for Peter Söderqwist. Camilo Salvidor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pastor Tino in the 86th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emiliano Velasco got free with Camilo Salvidor in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fernando Selatse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gabriele Batistuta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Camilo Salvidor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dinu Ivănescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Despidida AFC were awarded a corner in the 95th minute after Menchu FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Emanuel Lucila took the corner. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaston Firmo in the 96th minute of play forced Despidida AFC's goalkeeper Fernando Selatse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
