Rupert Heidingsfelder started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 6th minute Wilhelm Nienhaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tanek Ostrowski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 10 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tirso Isasaga. Olympique Gdynia were awarded a corner in the 12th minute after Hertha 1969's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Fabio-Roman Zabaleta took the corner. Olympique Gdynia's Tanek Ostrowski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 15th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Wilhelm Nienhaus left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hertha 1969 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Benedikt Bensch hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tanek Ostrowski saved Olympique Gdynia from getting behind. Tanek Ostrowski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rupert Heidingsfelder, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Olympique Gdynia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Moritz Hasenjäger was slow to take the kick. During this time Hertha 1969's players had a chance to rest. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tirso Isasaga in the 43rd minute of play forced Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute of the match Olympique Gdynia got a corner. Hertha 1969's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Fabio-Roman Zabaleta ran over to the corner to take the kick. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Olympique Gdynia fully deserved thier win.
