Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Semavi Polat in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rune Jarstein prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Boleslaw Ruszczyk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Paulo da Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute Semavi Polat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rune Jarstein saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Hertha 1969's Zé Paulo da Silva slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Boleslaw Ruszczyk. That made the score 2-2 after 43 minutes of play. 47 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's goal looked a bit too open when Leon Goretzka came free, but Rune Jarstein reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
