With a little luck, Yellow Submarine FC's Eddie Cadwallader got control of the ball when Kristian Topham tried to sneak it across the goal line. Eddie Cadwallader showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chesney Jobson in the 26th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the game, AFC Ascoli's Chesney Jobson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eddie Cadwallader made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Neil Brady struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Dale Tompkins didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Yellow Submarine FC. Ronnie Moss fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dale Tompkins having to interfere. Chesney Jobson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eddie Cadwallader having to make a save. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Chesney Jobson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Neil Brady got free with Dale Tompkins in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Harvey Panther's late challenge caught a Yellow Submarine FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Harvey Panther helped the player get up and apologised. Harvey Panther hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Ronnie Moss sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Neil Brady received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Dale Tompkins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dale Tompkins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barney Barfield, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. After a rather tough play, AFC Ascoli's Harvey Constable got a free kick in the 73rd minute. In the 76th minute Mick Slade collided with an opponent which caused him a fractured collar bone. In the 77th minute, Rufus Todd hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, AFC Ascoli's Dale Tompkins got control of the ball when Neil Brady tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, AFC Ascoli's Marty Owen got a free kick in the 85th minute. 86 minutes into the match, Neil Brady dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Dale Tompkins, 1-1. In the 89th minute Chesney Jobson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eddie Cadwallader saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eddie Cadwallader took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chesney Jobson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
