Welf Surkemper sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dale Tompkins was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Welf Surkemper showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 29 minute of play. Jorg Gerhold came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by AFC Ascoli's Chesney Jobson. But to his dismay, Chesney Jobson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Kristian Topham struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Jorg Gerhold didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AFC Ascoli. Dale Tompkins made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sören Gewalt in the 42nd minute. AFC Ascoli's Dale Tompkins proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save AFC Ascoli from getting a goal against them. In the 47thth minute of the game Welf Surkemper who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AFC Ascoli's Dale Tompkins was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Chesney Jobson made the kick off in the second half. Kristian Topham made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 52ndth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Jorg Gerhold would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Adam Jennings charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adam Jennings the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Adam Jennings kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. After having played for 60 minutes, Sören Gewalt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. VfL Blau Weiß's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sören Gewalt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sören Gewalt in the 65th minute of play forced AFC Ascoli's goalkeeper Dale Tompkins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as AFC Ascoli's Chesney Jobson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jorg Gerhold. That made the score 1-2 after 70 minutes of play. 74 minutes into the game, Chesney Jobson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Jorg Gerhold was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 78 minutes into the game, Chesney Jobson lined in a short shot 1-4 behind a frustrated Jorg Gerhold. 81 minutes into the match, AFC Ascoli's goal looked a bit too open when Welf Surkemper came free, but Dale Tompkins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jorg Gerhold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chesney Jobson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the VfL Blau Weiß defense, Chesney Jobson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jorg Gerhold. The VfL Blau Weiß fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jorg Gerhold should have stopped the shot. After 89 played minutes AFC Ascoli got a freekick which was hit by Harvey Constable. If Sören Gewalt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. AFC Ascoli walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
