Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Marius Rareș made the kick off which started today's match. Marius Rareș fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul Newbury having to interfere. New York Cosmos AFC's Paul Newbury played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ionică Milcoveanu in the 6th minute of play. In the 7thth minute of the game Marius Rareș who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but New York Cosmos AFC's Paul Newbury was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tudor Buzilă lost his temper 8 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 7 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Cosa Nostra! 1-0 came through a penalty shot after 10 played minutes, when New York Cosmos AFC:s Jake Hopker calmly waited for Cosa Nostra:s goalkeeper to move before he rolled in the ball by the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ionică Milcoveanu in the 14th minute of play forced New York Cosmos AFC's goalkeeper Paul Newbury to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Cosa Nostra getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Romeo Grindeanu hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jo Allanson during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, New York Cosmos AFC's Jo Allanson got a free kick in the 17th minute. Jeff Swanson kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. When Ionică Milcoveanu came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Cosa Nostra fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ionică Milcoveanu couldn't finish the play. Ionică Milcoveanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul Newbury having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gwyn Blacksmith got free with Vali Petrin in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Romeo Grindeanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul Newbury having to interfere. In the 28thth minute of the game Ionică Milcoveanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but New York Cosmos AFC's Paul Newbury was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Marius Rareș received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Paul Newbury tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ionică Milcoveanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 39 minutes into the match, Cosa Nostra's goalkeeper Vali Petrin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pete Rundle. 43 minutes into the game, Gwyn Blacksmith was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. New York Cosmos AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cosa Nostra the free kick. In the 44th minute Marius Rareș shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Newbury saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute, Ionică Milcoveanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paul Newbury was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in New York Cosmos AFC's zone, Romeo Grindeanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paul Newbury came out of the goal and Romeo Grindeanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
The wind increased when Benjamin Edmonton made the kick off in the second half. Vali Petrin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pete Rundle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 57th minute Pete Rundle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vali Petrin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paul Newbury showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marius Rareș in the 58th minute of the match. In the 60th match minute, New York Cosmos AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jo Allanson to maneuver through the defense. Cristi Boșneag sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vali Petrin came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by New York Cosmos AFC's Benjamin Edmonton. But to his dismay, Benjamin Edmonton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. 70 minutes into the game, Jake Hopker was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. New York Cosmos AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cosa Nostra the free kick. After 70 played minutes New York Cosmos AFC got a freekick which was hit by Jake Hopker. In the 71st minute, Cosa Nostra's Marius Rareș dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-2. In the 75th match minute, New York Cosmos AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luke Higgins to maneuver through the defense. Ionică Milcoveanu struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Paul Newbury didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cosa Nostra. With a little luck, New York Cosmos AFC's Paul Newbury got control of the ball when Romeo Grindeanu tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 80 played minutes New York Cosmos AFC got a freekick which was hit by Jo Allanson. In the 81st minute, Ionică Milcoveanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paul Newbury was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. 84 minutes into the match, New York Cosmos AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Ionică Milcoveanu came free, but Paul Newbury reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 87th minute, Ionică Milcoveanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Romeo Grindeanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Paul Newbury tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Cosa Nostra players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
